ABOUT ITAL MOMMA
I am a passionate Plant-Based Culinary Artist and Lifestyle Coach, born and raised in the lush landscapes of Suriname and partially nurtured by the vibrant Island of Sint Maarten.
My journey towards a fully plant-based lifestyle began in 2020 during a transformative trip to Jamaica, where I discovered that my beloved Surinamese dishes can be just as flavorful without meat.
Through self-mastery, experimentation, and the wisdom of Rastafarian elders, I sharpened my culinary skills by blending traditional Afro-Surinamese techniques with modern plant-based practices. This dedication has allowed me to inspire many through my cookbooks, interactive Nature Cooking classes, and pop-up restaurant experiences.
As a global traveler, I now serve as a personal and retreat chef, facilitating my own plant-based wellness retreats across the Caribbean. Here, we connect deeply with food, nature, and ourselves, all while embracing a spirit of adventure.
For me, cooking is more than a craft; it’s a meditation. It’s a way to express my art and create delicious, nourishing dishes that elevate the spirit.
